A trip to Cuenca offers an exciting time with an abundance of activities to keep you on the tip of your toes and the only doubt being where to start. It has to be said it has an alternative character which becomes quite evident when you arrive as you will most certainly notice the hanging house, lets go into a little bit more detail as they are a set of 14th century homes that are seemingly blended into the mountain sides looking into the gorge below and as you can imagine it offers some terrific views. Though keep in mind there is plenty surrounding these fascinating homes that will be on hand to keep you occupied. A good addition following the hanging houses is in Ciudad Encantada where there are an interesting set of rock formations that resemble several familiar items.
Though if the sound of too much physical activity puts you off theres no problem as you can head down to Beteta with the famous Solan de Cabres Spa, A perfect opportunity for you to spoil yourself and be pampered for the day. For something to eat test out the tastebuds on a host of great spots by the plaza mayor, Cuenca is known for their resourcefulness with a range of meats and sweets that work together for example Resoli liquor which is a combination of coffee, cinnamon and orange peel with alcohol, it goes along great with Los Pellizcos de Monja which are some full flavoured biscuits.
