Travel & Learn - Sun & Sea Route

Pack your towel and turn your Spanish language education into an edu-vacation by city-hopping your way along the Mediterranean coastline. As you learn Spanish, you'll enjoy a month basking in the sun and sea in four unique coastal cities: Marbella, Alicante, Valencia and Barcelona. While these four sun-soaked coastal cities serve up equally terrific beaches, each throws its own unique culture, cuisine, history, sights, festivals and personality into the mix. Here's your chance to discover them all!

Your first stop will be the posh city of Marbella, which has been a fixture on the celebrity vacation circuit for decades. Seemingly endless kilometers of beautiful beaches and a well-preserved Old Quarter serve as a unique contrast to the luxury marinas, massive yachts, exclusive designer shops, top-notch restaurants, golf courses and tennis clubs. With access to 26 kilometers of the Costa del Sol, this city attracts a wide range of beach bums, vacationers from throughout Europe, surfers, watersports enthusiasts and celebrities.

Next up is the smallish but lively city of Alicante, a coastal destination wedged between the lapping waves of the Mediterranean and the hilltop Santa Barbara Castle. Appropriately nicknamed the "City of the Sun", Alicante has mild year-round temperatures and a wide selection of beaches, highlights being the urban Playa Postiguet and the sprawling seven-kilometer Playa de San Juan located just a quick trolley ride away. You're also bound to enjoy the city's emblematic seaside promenade, La Explanada de España, a tiled walk bordered by palm trees and cafés with a view.

The third stop on your Sun & Sea route is Valencia, Spain's third largest city and home to paella, the legendary El Cid, the ultra modern City of Arts & Science, a delightful seaside promenade, the Las Fallas festival and more beaches than you'll know what to do with. In the city limits are the Las Arenas and La Malvarrosa beaches, while numerous other beaches - La Patacona, Port Saplaya, El Pinedo, El Saler, La Devesa, El Recatí and many more - are located just a short distance north or south.

The city is the most diverse and cosmopolitan city in Spain and is an innovative trend-setter in every sense of the word. Barcelona's two million inhabitants enjoy constant arts festivals and exhibitions, internationally famous museums, mouth-watering cuisine, spectacular nightlife, eclectic architecture and the endless benefits of its coastal location. There's six beaches located within the city, prime spots for sunning, swimming and kicking back just minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
