Around the House / En la casa
During your stay in a Spanish speaking country, it is absolutely certain that you will use a lot of the vocabulary from this section to discuss things around the house and the essentials of living. In it, you will be able to find a full summary of terms used to refer to the home including both furniture and utensils or other items which you may find about the place, and they have been helpfully divided up into the main rooms in which you will find them for further convenience.
There are a lot of ways in which you might want to talk about these things, no matter what kind of accommodation you pick to stay in while you study Spanish. You may want to go to the reception of the hotel and ask for some extra pillows; if you are staying with a host family you may ask them where the bathroom is when you arrive or whether you may use the telephone; or if you are staying with other students you might want to ask them to help you find something in the shared kitchen when you first make a meal there.
So it does not matter if you lose something in the kitchen, if you are looking for the remote control beneath the sofa or if you need a quilt for your bed. Here you will find the most suitable terms for all your needs, as well as the ways in which you can explain yourself when there is an issue with something in particular. If you would like to start practicing these words before you set off for you Spanish courses, here is something that you can do for fun: write the words out on sticky notes, and attach them to items around your own house to which they correspond. Make sure that every time that you use an item or walk into a room, you repeat the name to yourself in Spanish so that you can start to drill it into your head!
