What to do in Seville in autumn?

What's the perfect time to visit Seville? Many would say autumn. Here are the main reasons to visit at this time of year.

Many people believe that the perfect time to visit Seville is autumn. Temperatures are mild, the city gradually empties of tourists, many terraces remain open, and strolls through its streets and parks become a comfortable pleasure.

But, what surprises, landscapes, and activities await us in the very noble and loyal city?

Let's start with the traditional charms: first of all, visiting the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See becomes an intimate and almost mystical experience. The tourists have practically vanished, and we can calmly admire all the art of the largest Gothic Christian cathedral in the world in all its splendor... and climb the Giralda with hardly any line!

Secondly, we must mention the Royal Alcázar and its beautiful gardens. Walking through it and its rooms, which span periods from Mudejar to the Renaissance, in mild temperatures can become a perfect romantic evening. And let's not forget that, starting in September, it hosts numerous concerts and festivals!

If you have always wanted to see one of Seville's famous processions or "romerías" but cannot go during Holy Week, you can also see them in autumn: for example, on October 12th, an image of the Virgin of Pilar goes out in procession; on the same day, the Virgin of the Rosary from the Santa Ana Parish also travels through the iconic Triana neighborhood.

Speaking of Triana: during autumn, its commercial area buzzes with activity, and there we can find all kinds of shops, tasting days, and workshops that will delight shopping enthusiasts.

Autumn is also an ideal time to take various tourist routes, such as those that trace the city's Muslim history, its Sephardic quarter, or the places Columbus visited before setting sail for America.

Finally, even though it is 45 kilometers from the city center, we should mention what is a pleasant surprise for many visitors: the Sierra Norte of Seville, with its hiking trails, unique rock formations, and wildlife.

With all these charms, we can only agree with the writer Antonio Gala when he said, "The bad thing isn't that Sevillians think they have the most beautiful city in the world... the worst part is that they might actually be right."
