Seville, a journey beyond clichés

We present a tourist visit to Seville, known for clichés that no tourist escapes, but with an alternative and creative vision.

In addition to the Cartuja, the Torre del Oro, and the Giralda, Seville, like any self-respecting cosmopolitan city, offers a great number of different experiences for tourists looking to get to know the Andalusian capital without falling into its most universal clichés. To delve into this collection of original experiences, we present below some of the many possibilities for those visiting Seville for the first time who want to do so creatively.

Tapas in La Pañoleta

It is said that "going for tapas" or "going out for a drink" emerged as a custom in Andalusia and, indeed, many Sevillians, like many other Spaniards, enjoy the experience—except that instead of going to the typical spots, they head for the picturesque area of La Pañoleta, a neighborhood in Camas just a short distance from the city center. There are old wine cellars there that allow you to enjoy the best cured meats (chacinas) in the entire city, almost like a trip back in time to previous centuries.

The Soho

Globally, Soho is known for its location in London as an alternative leisure area. However, many tourists do not know that Seville enjoys its own Soho area and, of course, with an Andalusian style while remaining true to the alternative spirit. It is located near the Plaza del Cristo de Burgos and is a compendium of alternative fashion, gastronomy, design, and book shops that offer a different vision than the typical one Seville transmits.

Sevilla Past View

A different way to discover Seville is through the virtual reality experience offered by Past View. In it, a tour is made of the capital's most iconic sites with a special feature. Thanks to digital viewing accessories, it is possible to return to the Roman era, see the buildings as they were at that time, see people walking in their period clothing, etc. A way to get to know Roman Seville that far surpasses any reading of a history book.

Sala El Cachorro

Visiting the Triana neighborhood is almost an obligation for every tourist traveling to Seville. However, not everyone gets to know this emblematic place as deeply as those who visit Sala El Cachorro. This is an art space where you can enjoy everything from tango classes to a drink under the stars, from language exchanges with foreign residents to theater plays. A true cultural remnant that allows you to get to know Seville and Sevillians in a completely different way.

Now that you know about them... Which of these places will you visit on your next stroll through Seville?
